I don't think I understand boys' friendships. I grew up surrounded by women -- I have no brothers, my family is very matriarchal on both sides, and all my cousins and the kids I lived near were all girls. Even though I have lots of guy friends from high school and college, I feel very fuzzy on what boys do when they are alone with other boys. And, you know, not like that.
