i'm not sure the piano has been drinking is waits' originally?

i heard like a cornier, straighter version & it seemed to predate.. i mean just in sound... not that i'm industrious enough to look it up.

or that it matters really.

my liner notes for small change say "all selections written by tom waits".

i'd be interested to hear another version, though. (and it matters to me, i like to be accurate. more or less. i got lazy on california stars.)
