drowning - draco/harry

He doesn't know how long he's been out there, out in the rain, water plastering down his hair, dripping down the back of his neck. He doesn't know and it doesn't matter. Nothing matters.

He's out now, at least, out of the stuffy Great Hall and away from the eyes on him always, all the eyes except.

Except those. They flit away, resist capture from across the room. He felt them burning through his dress robes, but when he turned they were smiling, brotherly on Ginny Weasley, laughing on Ron and Hermione, concerned on Lupin.

Never seeing Draco.

The air goes out of the room and Draco flees, slipping through shadows, sliding onto the grounds, shoes squishing and squeaking through the wet grass.

The rain is slowing, and Draco is oddly disappointed. He tilts his head back, arms outstretched, cool mist alighting on his eyelashes, rain tumbling from the ends of his hair and disappearing in the dark damp of his robes.

He's only mildly startled when arms circle him from behind. "Why?" Harry whispers.

"Can't even look," Draco murmurs. "Can't take it."

Harry nods slowly, as if to himself, kisses the rain from Draco's face.

Draco forgets to breathe.

It's weird. Especially since of the whole prophecy thing now.

that's why! the prophecy sets them up. and he's a lovely match for harry because, unlike draco, he too has suffered from voldemort. the scene with his parents in ootp? killed me. he can't mourn like harry can, so it's almost more tragic. and he has a different kind of strength - he has such difficulty in anything other than herbology, right, which sets him up as being close to the earth and the natural world, which i'm more comfortable with, because i still don't understand where magic "comes from" in the potterverse. i don't know the rules.

and i don't like draco. canon or fanon. he doesn't interest me enough to want to redeem him, which is funny, because i'd love to redeem spike and he's a bleached blonde bad boy too ;)

i need to buy OotP and then reread everything.

I love Neville. I just never perceived any chemistry or connection between Harry and Neville.

I think the reason people favor Draco is circumstantial. The reason he's a great big jerk is because of who raised him. I feel that Draco doesn't really understand how evil his father and his connections is/are. He's just daddy's boy. I think that once he does understand--he'll probably freak out. Then who will he have to turn to?

Plus, his taunts of Harry are usually so... blowhard. He's a poseur of what he thinks his father wants him to be... and like I said, I don't think he really knows how sinister that is.

It's weird. I'm not that big a fan of slash... except I adore all LotRrps... and Harry/Draco. I don't want Harry with Ron, I don't want Harry with Neville... I don't evne want Harry with Hermione... But to me, Harry/Draco makes as much sense as Buffy/Spike.

i'm rereading now - i'm in PoA at the moment (where, at the very beginning when harry gets on the knight bus he gives his name as neville longbottom :P )

see, i don't care about who draco will turn to cause i just . .don't care about draco :D

and i don't like buffy/spike, either. i'm just difficult :P
