drabble: theanthropic. harry.

[theanthropic] - harry
this spilled out at exactly 100 words. i think i better not mess with it. and in my head, it was ron, but that's up for debate. crossposted to [livejournal.com profile] drabblesmith

He's faced the dark Lord again and again, as a baby, as a child, as a sullen teenager. Every time he has lived. Every time people edge away from him just a little bit more. They begin to think him theanthropic. They forget he is just a boy. They push him ahead, they call him a demon, they call him a savior. They never call him Harry.

The merpeople push him up from the depths, Dumbledore carries him back to the castle, and that night Gryffindor Tower sinks under the weight of the one who would have called him love.

wow. (I say that often, but I really mean it)

They forget he is just a boy
I wish more people would write on this. He is a boy, with so much weight to carry.

Each word was so perfect for this drabble, and the ending left my heart hurting. (in a good way)
*hug*

So abstract and insightful, and yet ringed with the sharp spears of vivid detail. I was thinking about Ron when I read the last line, but I notice you didn't put a pairing on this. And that brings all back from demonic, divine, to wonderfully human. Thank you for your wonderful words and for sharing the deep wisdom of the story and the meaning that you have discovered.

i didn't want it to be about a pairing, so, yeah. this is exactly why i love the challenge of drabbles :)

So much said in so few words. "They never call him Harry." Just!Harry - a boy ... too soon a man. Thanks for sharing.

Ooooh yah! This is stunning.

that night Gryffindor Tower sinks under the weight of the one who would have called him love.

This hit me right in the gut. And the heart.
