drabble: bouncy - draco

[bouncy] - draco
part of dorrito's every flavour mood beans.

They had thought him only bitter words, nothing to fear, and so they had turned away. He tried proving them wrong, throwing curses as their laughter faded, until suddenly he was changed, small and terrified, flung from floor to ceiling and back. It continued for years or mere moments, and then he was lying on the cold stone under their burning stares.

He pulled himself to his feet, though his body was racked with pain. It was a miracle that nothing had broken, wizard blood notwithstanding. He submitted to Moody's authority begrudgingly.

He is resilient. They shall not break him.

Wow. I'm blown away here. What an absolutely perfect take on this scene. This is why I'm interested in Draco. This is what makes him worth writing, in my opinion. What makes him who he is? Oh, I just love this! I do I do!

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
dude, you're the only one ;)

[identity profile] dorrie6.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
*blink* I hadn't even realized. I'm agog. I don't understand people. Perhaps you should have said "and then he was lying on his sexy arse under their burning stares." That would have been a sure crowd-pleaser.

*snort*

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
. . .and then harry, looking down on him with his emerald eyes, realized that he had been wrong about draco all this time, and so he pulled him to his feet and kissed him softly. they accioed their brooms and flew off to hogsmeade to pick out curtains and have lots of sex.

too bad that would put it over 100 words :P

And the baby! Don't forget the baby!

Damn the confines of the form.

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
you can write that in the sequel!

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
i'll totally be a bnf now!

i was going to get marshmallows, but i don't know if i'm allowed to roast them over my own wank flames.

[identity profile] dorrie6.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to offer to bring them myself, but then I realized that probably we should be having a feud.

OMG DON'T WRITE IT!!!!11!!

Your drabble is absolutely perfect. Canon!Draco interests me so much, and your writing always pulls me in, wanting more.

Oh, and I agree with [livejournal.com profile] dorrie6... H/D are not complete without their ickle baby.
*wipes fandom-induced tear*

this calls up a distant memory of another fic... i can't remember which. but it's the only other time i can remember seeing this scene from draco's pov. the way you write it absolutely breaks my heart.

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't know - i don't exactly read a lot of draco ;)

thank you!

loved this and your other drabble about draco - fantastic

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you!

[identity profile] shatterglass.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
This is great. Muh. :x

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you :)

[identity profile] tipgardner.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You're really engaging the canon Draco in interesting ways. I like this Drabble a lot. The language has a perfect balance of show and tell and the rhythm matches the scene exactly. I'm not quite as comfortable with the change of tense, but then, that's the deal with art. Thanks for sharing anoth fab drabble, Luv. :)

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
you know, the tense bothered me too. i spent at least a half hour changing it back and forth, because i wanted it to end in the present, but i didn't know where to start that. i'm still not pleased with it either.

thank you :)

[identity profile] tipgardner.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Would it hurt the piece to be all present? Best of luck, whichever direction you end up with, and again, many thanks for sharing something so enjoyable to read.

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
hrm. i think that might bother me more. which is funny, because i often write in the present and then change it.

[identity profile] dacro.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
bouncy furry Draco!
*smooch*

How much do I love this? A....LOT!
I can just hear Draco hissing the idea of last line to himself.

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you <3

[identity profile] shikishi.livejournal.com 2004-12-06 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
oh.. I am such a fan of canon Draco.. and also of any one who can write him well (which you have managed to do stunningly).

Lovely drabble!

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you!

[identity profile] sabriel.livejournal.com 2004-12-07 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I LOVE your draco. Which is really Jo's draco, because you do so very well with keeping to canon. which is oh so very important. <33

[identity profile] marginalia.livejournal.com 2004-12-08 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
well, -i- certainly think so! thank you :)

[identity profile] jenish.livejournal.com 2004-12-12 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
OH!

Wow.

I love that moment in the book, from all an any angles. And this is so lovely, and wonderful, and yay it gets across the quickness of it all; it happened so fast and he's so determined not to let them get to him. Wonderful Draco there. :)
